Manohar Joshi Death: A Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Manohar Joshi died at the age of 86 due to cardiac arrest in a hospital in Mumbai.

After he had a heart attack on February 21, he was taken to P.D. Hinduja to the hospital and died on Wednesday.

Veteran Shiv Sena leader Joshi had already suffered a brain hemorrhage in May last year, which hospitalized him in the same Hinduja Hospital.

According to family sources, Joshi’s final ceremonies would take place in the Dadar Shivaji Park cremation that same day with full state honours. His son Unmesh told Hindustan Times, “He was admitted to the ICU and closely monitored.” Wednesday, he had a cardiac episode. He has long suffered from age-related health issues. The lifeless remains will be brought to our Matunga abode before the last rituals are performed at the Shivaji Park cremation.”

Regarding Joshi’s admission to the intensive care unit, the hospital had previously released a statement that said, “On February 21, 2024, former Maharashtra chief minister Shri Manohar Joshi was admitted to P.D. Hinduja Hospital. He suffered a heart arrest and is in severe condition. He is currently receiving the greatest medical attention and care while in intensive care.”

Joshi Manohar’s Political Career 

Joshi was the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 2002 to 2004 in addition to serving as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999. In addition, he served as Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises from 1999 to 2002 and as a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2006 to 2012.
