Former Indian Cricketer VB Chandrasekhar Commits Suicide at 57

It is sad news. Former India opener and Tamil Nadu cricketer VB Chandrasekhar who was 57 years old, commit suicide on Thursday night by hanging in his Mylapore residence.  The cremation will take place on Saturday, family sources said. The administrator of the T20 team, VB Kanchi Veerans of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), modeled on the Indian Premier League, he had lent approximately Rs 4 crore from a private bank and invested nearly Rs 3 crore on the team, after police said after inquiries.

The report had inveterate it as death by hanging and the body has been handed over to the family. A Jayalakshmi, Deputy Commissioner of Mylapore, said. Previous, it was said that VB Chandrasekhar died of a massive cardiac arrest. After giving up work from cricket, VB Chandrasekhar was on track a cricket coaching academy with an extensive ground in Kelambakkam on the city outskirts, where first-class matches are held regularly for over 20 years.

He was also with  Chennai super king said to have been instrumental in getting MS Dhoni into the team.

He suffered heavy losses in running the cricket team, Kanchi Veerans in the absence of any sponsor since its beginning four years ago. Additionally, the team get hold of the play-off stage only this year but was excluded after losing an important match. And lately, the bank from which he had lent money by promising his house as surety, had sent a recovery notice. He was surrounded by great mental stress. Said police.

In a complaint to the police, Chandrasekhar’s wife, Sowmya, had informed that he was depressed over the financial losses and the debt burden, said the commissioner.

However recruited on the panel of commentators for the TNPL match on Thursday, he had well-versed about his ‘inability’ to come citing indisposition. On his phone, we found that the last conversation said the police officer.

After having tea with the family in the evening, he went to his room upstairs but didn’t turn up for a long time. When the family members knocked at his door, it was locked inside and there was no reply. On opening the window, the family members were stunned to see him hanging on the ceiling fan with his own dhoti.

The family members broke open the door, attempted at resuscitation, and hurried him in an ambulance to a hospital nearby, where doctors said he id dead. Later, the family informed the police. The police explained adding that Chandrasekhar had not left any suicide note. After that police took his body to Royapettah Government Hospital.

The police visited his house and recovered his phone and notice from the bank.

Initially, inquiry points to death due to financial troubles. Added inquiries on,” Jayalakshmi said.

The police are scheduling to quiz the former cricketer’s auditor as well.

After some days his 58th birthday was near to come but he left this world. The great cricketer he lived with her wife and with two daughters.

The BCCI and the cricketing community expressed shock at the sudden demise of Chandrasekhar and carried their concerns.
